The Indigo Story

The Goal of the workshop was to give students from short-listed schools in Kolkata the necessary skills to expand their horizons through computer education. The carefully crafted lessons would teach them a variety of computer-related skills to increase their chances of employment and acquire skills they wouldn't in a traditional classroom.

Painted Narratives

Designed for unemployed youth, the skilling programme intends to introduce, instruct and initiate artisans into new techniques and designs that are acceptable to present day standards. The core desire remains to empower the artisans. Construction industry’s most important building block- the mason- is largely illiterate and lives an insecure life. Mango Tree engages with potential aspirants and organizes residential workshops to enhance their masonry skills to ensure a better life.

 

Seeds, Beads, and Silver

A unique Techno-Craft amalgamation where Digital Interfaced Media helps take a participative journey through craft awareness. The content matter for the documentary is always a type of craft. Indian crafts represent the material culture of the region which reflects historical, social, economic, cultural, scientific, technical and anthropological aspects and perception of residing communities.The story board is created while thinking craft.The heritage aspect and sociology of the craft form, raw material and their scientific properties, the traditional process, livelihoods, and trade history along with traditional stories and songs become a significant part of communication

Earthwise

A fun-filled insight into our rich culture and craftmanship. This unique programme, a Puppet Show, was produced and performed by children. Elements of folk-art, drama and religion was combined with Navratri as the central theme. Navratri, celebrated across the country, acquires different dimensions in India’s many regions. Bommalla Kolluvu the festival of dolls in the South, Durga Puja in the East, community Garba – Raas celebrations in the West, and the legend of Ram culminating in Dussera in the North.Four Styles and mediums of Puppet used, included: Glove Puppets, Rod Puppets, String Puppets or Marionettes & Shadow Puppets

 

Kerala Sutra: Craft & Design

Hymns, those spontaneous outpourings of extraordinary literary and musical merit, are the perfect platforms for true fellowship. Children were made to sing together from the sacred books of the Bahais, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jains, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, and Zoroastrians. Through researched explanations in English, we familiarized the audience with the salient features of each faith while exploring the beauty of each tradition. Visits to the different religious sites helped create empathy and understanding of each faith. The ultimate realization was that all help show a path to attain a higher spiritual goal.  The resource was generated from amongst teachers and practitioners from the respective religions who were experts in their own fields.
